Why it matters

West Maui claims deserve a careful look

West Maui has been through a lot. The August 2023 wildfire destroyed much of Lahaina town, and many families are still rebuilding or still working through their claims. In September 2026, Hurricane Nolo brought National Weather Service-listed gusts of 88 mph near Olowalu.

Rebuilding here costs more than most estimating software assumes, and condo claims often involve two policies at once. We take the time to document every part of the loss and price it at real West Maui costs.

Common questions

Lahaina & West Maui FAQs

Yes. Island Claims is based on Maui and helps owners from Olowalu to Kapalua. We start with a complimentary review by phone or video, and schedule an on-site inspection when your claim needs one.
It depends on your policy wording and on what was officially issued for Maui County at the time, which affects whether a hurricane deductible applies. Bring your declarations page to a review and we will walk through it.
Often both the association’s master policy and your HO-6 are involved, depending on where the water came from and your association documents. We help you sort out which policy responds to which damage.
Yes. Contents, living expenses and rebuild costs are often still being worked out. Bring your policy, your claim letters and any deadlines you have been given to a complimentary review.
A public adjuster works for you, the policyholder, not the insurance company. We read your policy, document the damage, prepare the claim and handle the back-and-forth with your insurer. Your insurer’s adjuster works for the insurer.
No. A public adjuster handles the insurance claim itself: the policy, the damage and the paperwork. An attorney gives legal advice and can take legal action. Island Claims is a public adjusting firm, not a law firm. If your claim may need legal action, a licensed Hawaiʻi attorney is the right person to ask.
