Why it matters

Central Maui homes and businesses have their own risks

Wind funnels across Central Maui between the West Maui mountains and Haleakalā, and Kahului and Wailuku feel it. Many neighborhoods also have older homes, where wind and water damage spread in ways a quick inspection can miss.

Kahului is also Maui’s commercial hub, with the island’s main harbor, its airport and much of its retail and warehouse space. Business claims need building, inventory and income losses documented together.

Common questions

Kahului & Wailuku FAQs

Yes. Island Claims is based on Maui and helps property owners across Central Maui. We start with a complimentary review by phone or video, and schedule an on-site inspection when your claim needs one.
Wind damage is often covered under homeowners and commercial policies whether or not a hurricane was declared. A hurricane deductible usually applies only when the policy’s hurricane conditions are met.
Yes. We help shops, offices, warehouses and rentals with building damage, inventory and business income claims.
It depends on how the water got in. Rain through a damaged roof is often treated differently from rising water or runoff, which usually needs a flood policy.
A public adjuster works for you, the policyholder, not the insurance company. We read your policy, document the damage, prepare the claim and handle the back-and-forth with your insurer. Your insurer’s adjuster works for the insurer.
No. A public adjuster handles the insurance claim itself: the policy, the damage and the paperwork. An attorney gives legal advice and can take legal action. Island Claims is a public adjusting firm, not a law firm. If your claim may need legal action, a licensed Hawaiʻi attorney is the right person to ask.
