Our Story

Born on Maui.
Built for Hawaii.

Island Claims was founded on one principle: Hawaii property owners deserve the same level of professional representation that insurance companies deploy against them.

Our team of licensed public adjusters is embedded in the communities we serve. We have lived through Hawaii’s hardest property losses — from wildfire to hurricane — and we know exactly how insurance companies handle, and mishandle, legitimate claims.

We evaluate every claim as a firm, assign the licensed PA whose expertise best fits your loss, and manage the process from first inspection to final settlement.

Full-Service Representation

Documentation, estimates, negotiation, appeals. The entire claims process managed on your behalf.

Denied? We Fight Back.

Denied and underpaid claims are our specialty. We re-evaluate, re-document, and re-engage with evidence.

Local Trust. Aloha Spirit.

We are not a mainland firm with a Hawaii office. We are Hawaii — built here, invested here, fighting for our community.

Why Representation Matters

The Difference a Fighter Makes

Insurance companies calculate their first offer to protect their bottom line — not yours. Professional documentation and negotiation changes the outcome.

A Typical Claim Journey — Illustrative

Illustrative comparison of how thorough documentation, policy expertise, and professional negotiation typically affect claim outcomes. Every claim is unique.

  • Every covered damage pursued

Hidden water intrusion, smoke penetration, code-upgrade costs — we document what walk-through adjusters miss.

  • Estimates built to withstand pushback

Line-item, code-referenced, contractor-verified estimates your insurer cannot wave away.

  • Policy language on your side

We read the fine print the way carriers do — and hold them to every word of the coverage you paid for.

Protecting Hawaii Homes

From Ohana Units to Oceanfront Estates —
Your Property Deserves a Fighter.

Every roofline, every lanai, every family home carries a story. When damage strikes, we fight to make sure your insurance company honors the full value of yours.

How Our Fee Works

No memberships. No hourly billing. No surprises. Our interests are aligned with yours from day one — the Hawaii way.

$0 to Start. Always.

Your review, inspection, and claim evaluation are complimentary. No retainer, no deposit, no subscription. If we take your claim, you still pay nothing out of pocket.

We're Paid From the Recovery

Our fee is a percentage of the settlement we recover — stated plainly in your written representation agreement before any work begins. No recovery, no fee. Simple.

Hawaii-Regulated & In Writing

Hawaii law specifically regulates public adjuster contracts to protect property owners. Every term is disclosed up front, in writing, under Hawaii Public Adjuster License #553921.

Why contingency? Because it keeps us on your side of the table. The more your claim recovers, the better we both do — which is exactly how representation should work.

Common Questions

FAQ

A public adjuster is a licensed professional who works for you — the property owner — not the insurance company. Island Claims operates as a firm: every claim is evaluated by our team, assigned to the PA with the right expertise, and managed all the way through final settlement.
Nothing upfront. We work on contingency — a percentage of the settlement we recover for you. Your complimentary review and property inspection are completely free with zero obligation.
Yes. Denied and underpaid claims are a core focus of our firm. We review your denial letter, policy, and damage documentation, then fight the decision with a complete evidence package.
That is exactly what our Complimentary Damage Review is for. Share what happened and any photos you have. Our team gives you an honest assessment — no pressure, no commitment.
We serve all Hawaiian Islands: Maui, Oahu, Big Island, Kauai, Molokai, and Lanai. Our team is based in Hawaii — not a mainland firm with a remote rep.
In most cases, depositing a check does not automatically close your claim — many first checks are partial payments, and supplemental claims are common. But wording matters: if a check or accompanying release says “full and final settlement,” stop and get advice first. Before you deposit anything, let our team review the check, the letter that came with it, and your policy. That review is complimentary.
This is one of the most common gaps we see in Hawaii, where construction costs and material shipping run well above mainland pricing databases. A gap between a real local bid and the insurer’s estimate usually means the insurer’s scope is missing items or using mainland pricing. We build line-item, code-referenced estimates that reflect actual Hawaii costs — and negotiate until the numbers close.
If you have a mortgage, your lender has a financial interest in the property, so insurers routinely name them on repair checks. The check typically must be endorsed by both of you, and lenders often hold funds in escrow and release them in stages as repairs progress. It is normal — but it adds paperwork and delays that we manage for our clients as part of the claim.
No. In Hawaii you have the right to choose your own licensed contractor. Insurer “preferred vendors” can be fine, but remember who their repeat customer is — the carrier, not you. We help our clients get scopes and bids from reputable local contractors and fight for a settlement that funds the repair your property actually needs.
With Replacement Cost coverage, insurers typically pay the depreciated value (ACV) first, then reimburse the withheld depreciation after you repair or replace the items — a step called recoverable depreciation. Many Hawaii property owners never claim it and leave real money on the table. Tracking and recovering every dollar of depreciation is a standard part of how we manage claims.
A public adjuster is the only professional licensed by the State of Hawaii specifically to represent property owners in insurance claims — on the ground, at your property, across the table from the carrier. Apps and DIY tools can help you write letters, but they cannot inspect your roof after a Kona storm, document hidden water damage, or negotiate on your behalf. Attorneys become the right call if a claim turns into litigation — and when that rarely happens, we work alongside them. For the claim itself, a licensed local PA is the advocate built for the job.
