Three tracks

Insurance, FEMA and SBA are different

Mixing them up is the most common reason owners stall.

Your insurance claim

Your insurer pays under your policy. Its deadlines and proof requirements come from the policy, not from the federal declaration.

FEMA and SBA help

These programs run separately, with their own dates and rules. The counties of Maui, Honolulu and Hawaiʻi are in declaration DR-4909-HI; Kauaʻi is not.

Flood is the gap

Standard homeowner policies usually exclude flood. How the water got in, rising water or rain through a damaged roof, can change what is covered. Only about 4 in 100 Hawaiʻi properties carry flood insurance.

Not always. Your policy sets its own time limits, and a review checks them. Bring your policy and any letters.
Usually not. Flood is normally a separate policy. Rain coming through storm damage to the roof may be treated differently, so the details matter.
Many denied or underpaid claims can still be reviewed. Bring the letter, your policy and photos.
The claim review is complimentary. If we decide to work together, we explain in writing how we are paid before you sign anything.
No. Island Claims is not a law firm. If your claim may need legal action, a licensed Hawaiʻi attorney is the right person to ask.
