Why insurance jobs stall

The gap between the first offer and the real repair is your job.

Carriers often start with a short scope. When the check doesn't cover the repair, the owner can't fund it and your schedule waits. In Hawaiʻi, contractors can't negotiate the claim for the owner. A licensed public adjuster can.

  • Short scopesPatch where it needs a replacement, missing line items, no code upgrades.
  • Mainland pricingNumbers that don't reflect island materials, freight and labor.
  • Months of back and forthRe-inspections and document requests you aren't licensed to push on.
Clear lanes

Everyone does what they're best at.

That's why contractors and public adjusters make a good team. Nobody steps on anyone's license, and the owner gets taken care of.

Questions contractors ask

Good to know before you refer.

Does it cost anything to be a partner?

No. There's no fee to join and nothing to sign. Refer one owner a year or one a week.

Do you pay referral fees?

No. Island Claims doesn't pay or accept referral fees in either direction. The benefit to you is a properly funded claim, so the repair can actually get done.

What kinds of damage should I refer?

Damage from a sudden event: wind and hurricane damage, roof leaks after a storm, burst pipes and water damage, fire and smoke, fallen trees, and mold that followed a water loss. Not sure? Refer it and we'll take a look.

The owner already filed. Is it too late?

No. We help with claims at every stage, including open claims, low first offers and denials.

Will you send my customer to a different contractor?

No. The owner chooses their contractor. We don't do construction and we don't steer owners away from the contractor they trust.

Will I have to deal with the insurance company?

No. Once an owner hires Island Claims, we handle the claim with the carrier. We may ask for your estimate, photos or invoices so the claim reflects the real scope.

Do you work with commercial properties and HOAs?

Yes. Homes, condos, rentals, HOAs and commercial buildings on every island.
